Matt Whyton – Head Coach

Matt Whyton lives and breathes martial arts, and as a 2nd degree black belt today, he leads the team at Country Boy to becoming better, one round at a time. When he isn't on the mats teaching, or with his head down studying, he can be found out exploring nature on walks or watching the UFC.

Matt started his interest in martial arts from an early age. This led him to going to the boxing gym as a youngster and becoming fascinated with the sweet science. He became an assistant coach under Trevor Francis at Basingstoke ABA for many years and competing in the middleweight and heavyweight division himself. Around this time he started Judo and BJJ whilst at university graduating with a law degree. In 2018 after many years of study and competing Matt was awarded his black belt by Andy Roberts himself a black belt under the great Roger Gracie. Over the years Matt has travelled and trained all over the world and also spent time at BKK fighters in Essex training alongside UFC fighters such as Arnold Allen and others. Matt can often be seen in the corner of professional MMA fighters as a Jiu Jitsu and boxing coach. He lives and breathes martial arts, and as a 2nd degree black belt today, he leads the team at Country Boy to becoming better, one round at a time.
