What Will It Be For You?

Jiu-Jitsu is a lot of things to a lot of people. For some it’s focus, strength, calm, others its community and growth.

The only way to find out what it can be for you? Is to step onto the mats.

Haslemere Jiu-Jitsu is a place to grow stronger — physically, mentally , emotionally and even spiritually — while most people avoid their struggles, hardships and adversities, we roll through them.

All Levels NoGi

Whether it’s your first time on the mats or you’ve trained before, this class welcomes all levels. From white belts to black. You’ll learn core movements, practice live techniques, and get a feel for the calm, focused energy our community is built on. No ego. No pressure. Just an opportunity to see if Haslemere JiuJitsu is for you.

Beginners NoGi

This class is designed to help you build confidence from day one. You’ll learn the essential movements, positions, and escapes — all without the traditional uniform (Gi). Expect a relaxed, supportive environment where everyone knows what it’s like to be new. Come as you are. Get rollin'. Leave with a new skill — and maybe a new obsession.

Open Mat Training

Classes are great for learning, but with your full access trial you can also turn up to the open mat and roll. Nothing structured, just lots of rolling, lots of good people and lots of fun.

The fun and growth doesn't just happen at the classes and open mats. We have a supportive community and you'll be welcomed in. We talk about BJJ, share ridiculous memes and build friendships on and off the mats.

Frequently asked questions

What is Haslemere Jiu Jitsu?

We are a full-time martial arts and yoga academy with a specific focus on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). We believe Jiu-Jitsu is more than just a martial art — it’s a tool for transformation, a way to overcome adversity, and a pathway to becoming better in all areas of life.

How does the trial class work?

Simple. You’ll book your free trial class, choose either our Beginners or All Levels NoGi session, and arrive about 10 minutes early. We’ll introduce you to the head coach and the team, walk you through the basics, and get you moving safely at your own pace. No experience needed — just turn up and we’ll take care of the rest.

How much does it cost after the trial?

After your free trial, if you’d like to continue training, you can choose from a range of flexible membership options depending on how often you want to train. We keep things simple and transparent, with prices starting at £10 for a drop-in and going up to £88 per month for unlimited access to everything we offer.

Do you offer kids or women-only classes?

Not at the moment — our current focus is on adult classes where both men and women train together. All sessions are beginner-friendly and coached in a respectful, inclusive environment. The minimum age for the trial is 16+, and future kids’ or women-only programs may be introduced as the academy grows.

What should I bring to my first class?

Since you’ll be joining a NoGi session, you don’t need the traditional Jiu-Jitsu uniform (the Gi). Just wear comfortable workout clothing — shorts and a t-shirt or rash guard work perfectly — and bring some water. If you decide to continue after your trial, we’ll help you choose the right Gi and gear for future classes.
